Need help with my wire grounding for my new truck stereo!?

ok so i just put in my pioneer dvd player deck, everything works except videos. i'm trying to bypass the deck by grounding the park brake wire. only problem is i will test it by touching the wire to a ground and it will work but then when i fasten it securely to the ground and slide in the deck, it doesn't work anymore... any ideas? im stumped
