Need a quick fashion fix! emergency please!?

I bought a Maxi Dress from River Island a few months back. Its leopard print and around the neck there is a gold snake attached, its beautiful. However, the dress fastens with a necklace chain coming from the snake and i find its really heavy and digs into my neck and starts to hurt after an hour or so. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could stop the chain from digging in?
