How do I remove fascia board?

Fascia board has crown molding bordering the top of it, which is then bordered by a protective metal shield acting as a layer between the roof and the roof shingles. I need to remove the fascia board in order to replace it, but trying not crack the molding or bend the metal guard at the same time. The molding and metal guard appear to be fastened into place by an adhesive.
